Autopoiesis & Knowledge Management Research

Optimising the knowledge management environment in organisations
Recent research shows that most organisations understand the need to adopt KM initiatives, and they recognise that KM evolved to fill a business need that was not being met. However, our research has shown that the lack of a theoretical foundation for KM can cause problems such as incorrect expectatinons about what KM can deliver. This research sets about using the biological theory of autopoiesis to underlie KM with a conceptual foundation capable of alleviating problems such as inadequate definitions of knowledge.

Since 2005 I have been researching the application of autopoiesis to knowledge management and organisational learning. I have published widely in the area [read papers] and am currently combining this research into the new area of making organisations knowing.
